What happens when you mix different lubricants?

Lubricants are miscible if they use the same base oil type such as, for example, mineral base oils. They are not miscible when base oils are of different type, e.g. synthetic and mineral base oils.

However, when two lubricants of the different formulation are mixed, it results in a variation of the genuine performance of each product, generally to a lower level.
